In a workshop held on December 5th at the Alisa Hotel (Ridge), key players from Ghana’s digital ecosystem converged to shape the nation’s data-driven destiny. Facilitated by distinguished experts, Mr. Tala and Dr. Mawunyega Makafui Butu, the event boasted active participation from stakeholders, including the Data Protection Commission, NITA, and representatives from various digital organizations such as Dataware Tech.
The workshop kicked off with a deep dive into perspectives on National Data Strategy components — encompassing Data Policy, Governance, Infrastructure, and Analytics. Participants engaged in a thought-provoking exercise, ranking these elements based on importance. Notably, regulations and governance emerged as the top priority, underscoring the collective commitment to establishing a robust framework for effective data management.
The session then transitioned into an illuminating exploration of National Data Strategies implemented by Germany, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and Senegal. Drawing inspiration from these global benchmarks, participants gleaned valuable insights to inform Ghana’s strategy, emphasizing a contextually relevant approach.
As the day unfolded, spirited discussions paved the way for the creation of a comprehensive roadmap for Ghana’s National Data Strategy.
